Celebrate in Sydney
There’s only one place in the world to be for the biggest and best New Year’s Eve – Sydney!
JOIN MORE THAN A MILLION people lining the Sydney Harbour foreshore, as well as billions watching across Australia and around the world, as Sydney welcomes in 2019.
The official program of events kicks off at 6pm with an aerial display taking over the skies above Sydney Harbour. After that, fire tugs create striking water displays against the setting sun, followed by a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony at 7.30pm, where a Gadigal Elder will welcome visitors to Gadigal land from aboard a Tribal Warrior vessel, as eucalyptus smoke cleanses the harbour of any bad spirits.
The much-anticipated 9pm family fireworks illuminate Sydney Harbour in dramatic fashion and at 9.08pm watch the enchanting Harbour of Light Parade and Calling Country pylon projections, embracing and honouring the Dreaming of this place and our relationship to it.
Our world-famous fireworks display kicks off on the stroke of midnight, with dazzling fireworks erupting from barges on the water, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House.
Official radio broadcaster KIIS 1065 hosts the event live from Sydney Harbour starting at 3pm. Tune in for the official synchronised soundtrack for the 9pm and midnight fireworks displays.
