Airlie Bridge Club gets good numbers at the table
BRIDGE: Last Tuesday night we had three and a half tables with visitors Joy Ellis and Pru Purser making up the numbers which was very gratifying.
There were four boards played in spades by everyone and four NT by one.
There was one slam in NT which was bid and made and one in Diamonds.
There were two grand slam of NT to be bid but they were only bid to game but won 13 tricks anyway.
The winners on the night were Gillian Blackie and Dewi Hughes with 60.42 per cent followed by Corrie Gardner and Helen Altman with 54.17 per cent and Dale Hell and Eric Bottle with 52.08 per cent which means all will get some master points.
Dale Hell said it was great to see new players up there with the experienced players and continuing to hold their own.
On Friday morning we had another good roll up with two and half tables and some very competitive bridge played.
The winners were Neil Cawthorne and Annie Vaughan with 65 per cent followed by Gillian Blackie and Joy Ellis with 57.50 per cent and then Renate and Sigi Feige with 55 per cent.
