LAWN BOWLS: Club cham­pi­onship re­sults: Ladies’ pairs grand

fi­nal: Henny Tattam and Betty Ni­colle de­feated Shirley Wod­son and Betty Whitehorn 21-12. Henny and Bette have had a great year in club com­pe­ti­tions and will go on to con­test the Cham­pion of Cham­pion com­pe­ti­tions at dis­trict level in the pairs, the triples and the fours games.

The B-grade pairs grand fi­nal was washed out with the rain. The game is to be recom­menced on a new suit­able date. Men’s sin­gles round re­sults: Ar­mando Is­gro de­feated David Dias 25-16. Men’s B sin­gles semi-fi­nal: Andrew But­ler de­feated Neil Moore 25-24. Men’s fours grand fi­nal: Rick Galea, Nick Fern­bach, David Dias and Tony Whitehorn de­feated Bob McMa­hon, Ar­mando Is­gro, Nathan Har­riott and Andy Bell 27-13. Men’s pen­nant

re­sults: Round 6: June 2. Air­lie Beach Divi­sion 2 played at home and had an all rinks up win de­feat­ing North Mackay with an ag­gre­gate score of 74-59. Divi­sion 5 also had a win de­feat­ing Seaforth with an over­all ag­gre­gate score of 43-38. Divi­sion 6 had an away game and con­tin­ued a great win­ning run (one rink up) against North­ern Beaches and an ag­gre­gate score of 42-30.

Divi­sion 2 Air­lie Beach was de­feated by North

Mackay at North Mackay with an ag­gre­gate score 34-33. Tues­day adies’ so­cial

bowls: Two so­cial games of triples were played. The teams were well matched. Jenny Ry­der, Lane Telford and Doreen Peadon de­feated Di Dob­bins, Jill Spencer and Ladda Pur­die 20-17 (13 ends). Elaine Kip­pen, Mar­garet Heeney and Julie Stark de­feated Pam Collins, Regina Aquilina and Val Hadley 24-22 (11 ends) Busi­ness house bowls: Round Five: Team Sub­lime Painters is run­ning top of the leader board one point ahead of Air­lie Beach Ho­tel.

Scroungers and Sun­day Bowls are can­celled for this week be­cause it is the June Car­ni­val week­end which will be played all day Satur­day and Sun­day, seven games and meet and greet for play­ers on Fri­day evening.
