Hit­ting the green for June car­ni­val

BOWLS: Ladies B-Grade sin­gles was won by Elaine Kip­pen who de­feated Rhonda Lloyd 25 games to 10.

The Whit­sun­day June Car­ni­val was played over Satur­day and Sun­day.

Six­teen teams of fours played in the com­pe­ti­tion of seven games of 13 ends each.

Vis­it­ing teams came from Proser­pine, Mackay, St He­lens and Wan­garatta to take part.

First prize-win­ning team was from Mackay – K. Tran­berg, C Sav­age, R Dunn and B Brown. The Mackay team won five games, lost one game , drew a game and achieved a score of 11+11.

Sec­ond placeget­ters, a team of district play­ers – Joyce Bloom­field, Lois DeGuara, Rose McDer­mott and Nuggy Pratt – won five games and achieved a score of 10+33.

Third placeget­ters from South Sub­ur­ban Mackay achieved a score of 10+26 and fourth team skipped by Merv Tickle came from Wan­garatta and got a score of 10+1. The weather was per­fect for the car­ni­val and the prizes were pre­sented by ma­jor spon­sor Margo Stan­ley and ABBC chair­man Andy Bell.

Buddy Homes Day will be held on Sun­day, June 17, and will be spon­sored by Buddy’s sis­ter Patsy Black.

All bowlers welcome. If you haven’t al­ready done so please reg­is­ter in­ter­est by phon­ing the club. Start is 12.30pm for 1pm start time, the same as so­cial bowls.

Men’s Pen­nant: There is a break of two weeks while the Aus­tralian opens are be­ing played.

Ladies Pen­nant Re­sults: Round 2. Di­vi­sion 2 Air­lie Beach at home was de­feated by North­ern Beaches.

Tues­day Ladies So­cial Bowls: Two rinks played. Win­ning team was Lu Ro­gan, Louise Ma­hony and Lane Telford who de­feated Eileen Hal­l­i­day, Di Dob­bins and Doreen Peadon 19-14.

Wed­nes­day Mixed So­cial Bowls: Eigh­teen play­ers filled three rinks on Sun­day af­ter­noon.

Scroungers on Satur­day morn­ing is 9.30am for a 10am start.

There will be an up­date on the sta­tus of club com­pe­ti­tions in next week’s re­port.
