Reporter’s tragic homecoming
Sharp Objects, Showcase, Monday at 11am
HBO’S new psychological thriller series stars five-time Oscar nominee Amy Adams and is based on the novel of the same name by best-selling author Gillian Flynn.
The eight-part series tells the story of St Louis reporter Camille Preaker (Adams, pictured), who returns to her small hometown of Wind Cap, Missouri, to cover the story about two missing girls – one of whom was found dead and presumed murdered.
Trying to put together a psychological puzzle from her past, she finds herself identifying with the young victims a bit too closely.
Sharp Objects also stars Patricia Clarkson, Chris Messina, Elizabeth Perkins, Matt Craven, Miguel Sandoval and Australian actress Eliza Scanlen in her breakthrough role as Camille’s 13-year-old half-sister Amma.
