IT IS autumn 1942, in the midst of World War II, and submarine warfare is becoming ever more brutal.

In occupied France, U-612 is now ready for its maiden voyage, preparing to head into the increasingly brutal warfare with its young crewmen, including the new commander, Klaus Hoffmann (Rick Okon, pictured).

Personalities clash and loyalties shatter as they are tried by the unspeakable horrors of war. Will they live to make it back ashore?

Meanwhile, hundreds of miles away, Simone Strasser’s (Vicky Krieps) world is quickly spinning out of control. She is deep into an impossible love affair that has her torn between the two sides.

This German mini-series, a sequel to 1981’s Das Boot, also stars Lizzy Caplan and James D’Arcy.
