Apply this week for tertiary scholarships
I’D like to remind school leavers in the Whitsundays that applications for the current round of tertiary scholarships close on Friday. These are worth pursuing. The scholarships are up to $18,000 and are a huge help for young people wanting to study courses in the science, technology, engineering or maths fields.
The money is to go toward the costs associated with studying at a university, or a vocational education and training institution.
The scholarships alleviate a lot of the financial pressures associated with university years, and mean regional and remote students can have access to our world-leading higher education system, regardless of where they live.
We have significantly more scholarships up for grabs since the Federal Government injected an additional $34.1 million in scholarships for regional and remote students, so I really do encourage anyone pursing a tertiary qualification in the STEM (science, technology, engineering or mathematics) field to apply.
Our new guidelines also make it easier for droughtaffected students to apply, including families receiving the Farm Household Allowance.
