Singer Taylor Swift has learnt from the past, keeping new beau Joe Alwyn under wraps.
After a very public break-up with DJ Calvin Harris and a subsequent high-profile romance with actor Tom Hiddleston, Taylor Swift is trying a new romantic strategy. Multiple sources confirm to WHO that the “Shake It Off” singer, 27, has been secretly dating English actor Joe Alwyn, 26, for several months—and this time, going to great lengths to keep the relationship away from prying eyes. “Taylor has been insanely private with Joe,” says a Swift source. “She wanted to get to know him without any chaos.”
Last summer, the Grammy winner’s courtship with Hiddleston, 36, was thrust into the spotlight as the pair jetted around the world and had their every move documented. But with Alwyn, 26, “she has learnt from the past,” says the source, who adds that Swift has been flying in to Britain under the radar to spend time with her boyfriend and has met his family.
Swift—she has reportedly donned disguises and rented a house in North London over the past few months— and Alwyn were first seen attending a Kings of Leon concert in October with a group of her friends, including Martha Hunt, Dakota Johnson and Lorde. One month later, the singer caught Alwyn’s film Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk in Los Angeles with her mother, Andrea, and the Haim sisters.
“It’s really nice to have people excited about ... me, but it’s hard to get caught up in that,” Alwyn, who recently wrapped filming The Favourite (with Swift’s longtime friend Emma Stone), told WHO last year about his growing fame. “Maybe it’s just my nature. I just want to take things a day at a time.”
With the coupling now public, Alwyn is determined to remain “very normal and down-to-earth,” says the insider. “Joe and Taylor are on the same page about their relationship.”
