I

s it important to you that Australians celebrate diversity in all women?

Yes, most definitely. Being from a Chinese background, celebrating the beauty of all Australian women, whether that be heritage, age or even career choice, is very close to my heart.

You have beautiful skin. Are you mindful of sun protection?

I use sunscreen religiously every day. Whatever I’m wearing, I always ensure it’s a sensitive-skin product.

Did your mum pass on any beauty secrets?

My mum gave me a face-cleansing brush when I was a teenager and I’ve been using it for 27 years.

You worked as a makeup artist—have you always had a passion for makeup?

I’ve always loved working with makeup and wearing it myself—i really miss doing it professionally, actually.

Is it another way to be creative?

Most certainly. I simply see the face as a different canvas and it fascinates me how much features can be transformed through very little makeup.

You often rock a red lip. Is that your favourite look?

Revlon Matte Red lipstick is always an easy go-to for me. Those Parisians have had it right for aeons. It’s so classic and makes your teeth ping whiter.

What would you never go out without?

I never wear foundation but I never leave the house without concealer— I conceal every blemish!

What would we be surprised to find in your beauty kit? Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Talc Powder. I’ve used it as my translucent powder since I was a teenager because everything else feels too heavy and has too much pigment in it. Also, I use olive oil as a makeup remover. It’s great for removing waterproof mascara.
