A quick chat with STEVEN YEUN

The actor, 33, gained packs of fans for his portrayal of tragic hero Glenn Rhee in The Walking Dead. He’s hoping to attract more to his work in the sci-fi film Okja (on Netflix now), as he tells WHO’S Cynthia Wang.

Were you approached by director Bong Joon-ho for this role? I met him two years prior just in a coffee meeting and then he sent me an email saying he wrote a part for me. Unlike your character K, you are confident in speaking Korean. I’m not perfect at Korean, but I do believe that I have a better command of Korean than K does. It was really fun to dial it down and dumb it down. You and your wife, Joana, had a baby boy, Jude, in March. How is fatherhood? There is no adventure that matches it. It’s really beautiful and it’s wonderful. At the June Supanova convention in Sydney, did you see people cosplay as Glenn from The Walking Dead? Yeah! It’s even more interesting to see people dressed up as me who are not of his ethnicity, which I think is brilliant. What souvenir did you take back to the US from Australia? People really wanted me to bring back these Hey Duggee toys. I found those, and I’m going to be the hero of the decade.
