STARRING: Romesh Ranganathan
Ranganathan is a comedy star in his native UK, but the laugh business is a new career for the former maths teacher—he says trying to get reluctant kids to learn honed his crowd-control skills. Having built his way up in a relatively short time back home, the father-of-three now wants to crack the US market, taking a camera crew along for the ride. The 10-episode docu-series, in which he suffers setback after setback in his quest to become wellenough known to fill the 6000-seat Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, is as dryly funny as Ranganathan’s scripted stuff, and its cast of sidekicks, including rogue uncle Rags and newly-met burrito-maker José, almost steal the show.
