Celebs descend on the City of Lights for haute couture shows
LOOKING CHIC IN A PRINTED tiered skirt and white T-shirt, beaming newlywed Vanessa Paradis lead the charge of style icons at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week in the
French capital. In her first appearance since marrying film producer Samuel Benchetrit on June 30, the French actress joined daughter Lily-rose Depp, 19, and her ex-partner Johnny Depp’s close friend and
Pirates of the Caribbean co-star Penelope Cruz, at Chanel’s Fall/winter Haute Couture presentation held in the Grand Palais on July 3.
In a tweed mini from the label that showed off her tanned legs, Cruz was making her debut as a Chanel brand ambassador,
an announcement that had been made that day. “It’s not just the image and the fantasy; you look at every single thing he creates, he’s a true artist,” the 44-year-old actress told fashion magazine WWD, praising Chanel’s creative director, Karl Lagerfeld. “There are only a few of them, on that level of creativity, and always reinventing themselves. I have so much admiration for him.”
At Valentino, Depp’s ex-wife Amber Heard sat front row alongside Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross, Olivia Palermo and Italian fashion icon Giovanna Battaglia as Cindy Crawford’s 16-year-old daughter Kaia Gerber stormed the runway in a pink off-the-shoulder feathered gown and back-combed wig. “@maisonvalentino words cannot describe how much this moment meant to me,” the teenager later wrote. “You are a visionary and being able to wear your art is a true honour.” •
“This hair moment was everything and more,” model Kaia Gerber (ruffling feathers at the Valentino presentation on July 4) wrote on Instagram, thanking stylist Guido Palau for her up-there look.
