OLD CITY BANK BRASSERIE, KATOOMBA Located beside the Carrington Hotel on the main road in Katoomba is the Old City Bank bar. A tiny, inconspicuous drinking hole, it was originally built as a bank in 1912 for the owner of the Carrington, Sir James Joynton Smith. The bank’s first manager, Mr Hosie, lived upstairs. The building remained a bank until 1932 when it became the Carrington Saloon Bar. It’s a salt-of-the-earth, throwback pub serving mulled wine and typical comfort food to warm up the coldest of mountain days. Exactly what the doctor ordered on a trip to the mountains. 15-47 Katoomba St, Katoomba, Blue Mountains NSW 2780
