SAMANTHA JADE HAS TEAMED UP WITH Coca-cola and the Salvos for the world’s biggest Kris Kringle by lending her name. In between stops at the Coke truck she spoke to WHO all about her upcoming festive season.

Why is the “It Feels Good to Give” campaign so important to you?

I’m so excited because I’ve worked with the Salvation Army before and Coca-cola last year and I really loved my experience. Anything for a good cause around Christmas drags me in.

What makes it different to other campaigns?

Every year at Carols in the Domain we just shake the tin and you say, “Give, give, give” – but you’re not actually seeing what they [charities] do and just how much of what they do actually gives back to the needy. I’ve done two Salvos events now and it’s been life-changing.

What are you doing this festive season?

I’m going home to Perth, which I am so excited about! I’m going to hang out with dad, my brothers and my puppies and have, I think, 10 full days off which is so exciting to me.

What does your family Christmas look like?

We’re such a relaxed family on Christmas, like we do presents in the morning – that’s the best part, then we just sit around and we play games and we listen to carols and we eat SO much food and literally just [have] family time.

Will your boyfriend (Pat Handlin) be heading home with you?

Yes, my boyfriend is going to attend.

How are things between you two?

We’re going good, we’re very happy!

Is he the one? Would you propose?

Gosh. I don’t know. I think that’s the guy’s job!

Do you have a favourite Christmas Carol?

I think “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” – there’s a real sentimental feel around that for me because I’m always away, so coming home to Perth for Christmas is really nice.

One message to give out about the Salvos?

I think people often think that it’s quite hard to help – and I know people want to help, but it’s more that they don’t know how to. And this is pretty easy, the Coca-cola Christmas Truck tour has got six stops, and you can get involved in the world’s biggest Secret Santa. It feels good to give, it really does! It’s an easy thing to be a part of. Receiving presents at Christmas is fun but giving them is better! Giving presents – there’s nothing like it.
