The soundtrack to last year’s surprise musical blockbuster, The Greatest Showman – starring Hugh Jackman as P.T. Barnum – recently got a Top 40 makeover with covers from pop’s biggest stars, including Pink (“A Million Dreams”), Panic! At the Disco (“The Greatest Show”), Missy Elliott (“This Is Me”) and Kelly Clarkson (“Never Enough”), 36, who tells WHO about her love of musicals.

What’s your relationship to The Greatest Showman?

I heard the music before I saw it and it amped me up; then one night I stayed up late and watched it, and it was so incredible. It was kind of how I felt when I was younger and saw Moulin Rouge! It’s rare to have a movie musical so moving, inspiring and just cool.

You also sang on The Hamilton Mixtape in 2016. What do you like about cover albums?

As an artist that grew up in musical theatre, it’s a cool thing for us to get to do. Musical theatre is so powerful. I remember being a high school sophomore and doing a choir trip to New York, and we saw Les Mis and I literally cried. And it wasn’t even any of the big stuff! It was, like, Jean Valjean’s prayer song.

What will it take to get you to do a musical?

My predicament is, I don’t want to settle for less than doing it on Broadway. But we’re shooting The Voice, then I’m doing a talk show, then we’re going on tour … so there’s just never time to do it. Like, literally, never enough.
