PARTY PEEPS
The latest expert tips to transform your makeup look for the festivities that lie ahead…
M.A.C Global Senior Artist and author of Making it Up, Nicole Thompson, shares her on-trend tips to get your party palette perfect. The best way to update your party look is with a little makeup mix-up. “You don’t have to go over-the-top, just experiment with different styles and colours and make the look work for you. You’re always going to look amazing if you wear the style with confidence,” says Thompson.
BLUSH UP!
“One of my favourite and fastest things to do if you have an outfit with warm blush tones is to take that into your beauty look by swiping the same powder blush over your cheeks and eyes. Pink blush on the eyes is so flattering! And easy to blend. Pair it with a chunky black mascara and a slick of pink lip gloss and you are done!”
TAME IT DOWN
Bold eye or lip not your thing? Sometimes the most perfect sheeny skin is the look, says Thompson, who suggests mixing “some M.A.C Strobe Cream into your foundation to give it more luminosity, then use a fluffy brush to buff on your highlight powder over the high points of your face and décolletage”. Use your little finger to press the highlighter onto the inner corners of your eyes and eyelids for a bit of extra skin bling!
METALLIC MOMENT
“It’s so fun! And there’s so many options!”
EYES: If you are new to metallics, try slicking a metallic liquid liner across the top lash line for flickery eyes.
LIPS: Put your matte lipstick down and try metallic, says Thompson. Just note, “This does not mean full-on silver metallic lips – no, there are much more wearable options now.” Why not try frost lipsticks, which Thompson says have made a major comeback. “The multidimensional shine makes the lips appear fuller. Make sure to wear with a lip liner to give your pout that definition.”
FLIRT WITH FASHION
If you fall in love with a runway look or you have a beauty muse, Thompson recommends just using the look as a reference rather than copying the entire makeup. If it’s the colour you love, try an eyeliner in that shade, or if it is a glitter look, try adding a small amount of glitter on top of your favourite shade. “Start small and before you know it you’ll be confident enough to try the whole damn look!”
