After two troubled years, the Hollywood star’s mother wants justice for her son
HER SON HAS BEEN THROUGH AN emotional few years, from splitting up with the mother of his six children in 2016, to the ongoing bitter custody battle ever since, but Brad Pitt’s mother, Jane, has stood by him and is very much still on his side of the ring. According to reports, the Hollywood heavyweight’s mum is “furious” with his estranged wife Angelina for ruining her son’s life.
“Jane is a tough cookie, and she will never
forgive Angelina for what she’s put the family through – especially since they’ve barely seen the kids since the divorce was announced,” an insider told Radar Online.
“She thinks her son has been treated in a cruel and manipulative way, and she’s not letting this go,” added the source. “Brad’s had to beg his mom not to jump on a plane to confront Angie numerous times, but she wants to look her in the eye and give a piece of her mind,” said the insider. “She blames her for her ruining her son’s life and wants answers.”
In November, Jane’s grandchildren, Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and 10-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox, were put out of their misery as their parents Pitt, 55, and Jolie 43, reached a custody agreement.
“A custody agreement was agreed to weeks ago, and has been signed by both parties and the judge,” Jolie’s lawyer, Samantha Bley Dejean, told
Entertainment Tonight in a statement on Nov. 30. “The agreement, which is based on the recommendations of the child custody evaluator, eliminates the need for a trial,” she continued. “The filing and the details of the agreement are confidential to protect the best interests of the children.”
The agreement comes after the former couple asked for another extension to retain their private temporary judge, according to court documents obtained by WHO.
But despite their ability to now agree, it appears Pitt and his estranged wife have not had an easy journey since their highly publicised break-up, adding fuel to Jane’s fury. “She’s fought him tooth and nail,” a family friend told In Touch Weekly of Jolie. Sources have revealed that the actress and director dragged her ex to court in a bid to paint him in a negative light and keep him away from the children. Legal documents
obtained by WHO reveal that the pair asked to extend the current temporary judge on their case – Judge John Ouderkirk, who also officiated at their 2014 wedding – until Dec. 31 this year.
A source told WHO about the agreement, “It is not permanent but rather a temporary agreement in place, for now, to keep things moving along in the right direction.”
Well before the couple made this legal pact, Pitt made every effort to show his children he’s ready to be a hands-on father, after slipping through the cracks as he watched his personal life crumble before him. “I started therapy. I love it, I love it. I went through two therapists to get to the right one,” the
Allied star told GQ Style magazine. He also spent Christmas with his four youngest children. Us Weekly reports Pitt “exchanged Christmas gifts with the kids on December 25 at his house.”
“[He] has never spoiled the kids for their birthdays or holidays. It wasn’t over the top but low-key.” The source revealed Pitt was “extremely happy” to have his kids spend the night with him.
But the same source notes that no matter how hard he tries, Pitt – who reportedly had an altercation on a private plane with his son Maddox in 2016 – is not on good terms with the teen or his brother Pax. “He has accepted that he’ll likely never be able to repair their relationship.”
“Angelina hasn’t offered any concessions about her actions that have contributed to the situation,” the insider adds, which is all the more reason for Pitt’s mother to hold a grudge against her famous former daughter-in-law.•
