The busy mother, model and fitness influencer shares her beauty secrets
Congratulations on your ambassador role with Botanicals by L’oréal Paris.
Thank you. The botanicals brand is very much aligned with what I believe in with life and how I aim to live my life now, so I am really proud to be working with the team. L’oréal has been a part of my bathroom regimen since I was little so it’s kind of a dream to be on board. I really love that all the packaging is 100 per cent recycled material and it is 100 per cent recyclable, which is really important to me to leave that positive footprint in this day and age.
Do you lean towards natural beauty products?
Absolutely, I think the catalyst for that was definitely when I fell pregnant with Violet, I was thinking more about ‘ What am I putting onto my body? And what am I consuming?’ You know, what are my stress levels like? And what kind of effect is that having on my body and my children? So it is of absolute importance, and something that I look into more and more.
Since becoming a mum, has your approach to beauty changed?
It definitely has become a lot more easy and simplistic. I have minimal products in my cupboard and in my beauty bag. Of course, when I’m working, hair and makeup artists have got their full kits with them, but when I have my days off, I want my skin to breathe and I try to get as much goodness back into my skin and into my hair as possible.
What beauty advice will you pass on to Violet as she gets older?
Oh, this is a good one! As much as you think that it’s about using the right types of products externally, for me it’s going to be about educating her about the importance of nourishing herself from the inside. I’m trying to educate and guide her along that formula so she sees it as a holistic internal concept, instead of seeing it as ‘I just keep applying it over the top so it leads to beauty’. But it’s two sides of the coin, where you’re getting it from both ends.
What’s your favourite summer fragrance?
It’s not a traditional perfume. My favourite fragrance would be a perfume mixed with a rose and lavender essential oil mixed with a carrier oil.
Oh I love it! Do you blend it yourself?
I don’t grind it myself, but I do make it myself with the essential oil extracts and then I just mix it. It’s just really sweet and nice and gentle. And sometimes maybe some jasmine in there as well...
Anything surprising in your beauty kit?
A tooth brush to brush my eyebrows! [ Laughs] Yep, its my little trick and I’ve used it for a long time. If I ever get stuck I just use a little bit of hairspray …
