PICK OF THE LITTER

STARRING: Five potential guide dogs

WHO - - The List -

It takes a certain type of dog to lead the blind. Not only are very specific breeds chosen, but prospective guide dogs go through a rigorous process that weeds out those animals not suited for the job. This documentary follows a litter of pups from birth as they are trained – which of Patriot, Potomac, Primrose, Poppet and Phil will make it as a career guide dog? More emotional than you might expect as it tracks the journeys of not only the dogs but all the trainers as well. (Out now)

At Guide Dogs for the Blind, only 300 out of 800 puppies born each year make the grade.
