Be it hand-sewn sequinned dresses, stunning ball gowns or trendy tailored suits, Australia’s biggest TV stars pulled out all of the glitz and glamour on the Gold Coast in celebration of the 2019 TV Week Logie Awards. Australia’s sweetheart Delta Goodrem and fellow The Voice coach Kelly Rowland proved they were inseparable as they sped past reporters on the red-carpet, walking hand in hand. In between her hosting duties, WHO caught up with Sylvia Jeffreys, who revealed she missed working with her husband Peter Stefanovic, who’s just secured a new role at Sky News.

Even still, Jeffreys was all smiles and said she was excited to see “a lot of friends” on the red carpet as her husband was a no-show at the huge

event this year. “He’s got to get up at 3am for a new job,” she says.

Fellow host on the night Channel 9 news reporter Leila McKinnon ruffled a few feathers with her crimson gown, showing off some leg with a thigh-high split, which she says she worked particularly hard for in the lead-up to the event. “I’m 47 this year, so I felt like my left leg’s still in good enough shape to make an appearance … normally I’m in peak condition in Logies’ time, then I get less and less fit and more and more loose during the year. I did quite a bit of weightlifting this year and I really enjoyed it – I’m going to try and maintain it,” she tells WHO.

Although he didn’t take home the Gold Logie, nominee and Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac enjoyed his night alongside his date, mum Loretta. “I’m over the moon to have been nominated and Mum’s here,” the Channel 7 star says. And while she revealed she was “very proud” of her son, he reveals who she was dying to meet on the night. “Mum’s most excited to meet Edwina [Bartholomew]. I’m like, ‘Mum, I can introduce you to her any day of the week!’”

Home and Away’s Penny McNamee, who recently gave birth to her second child, made sure not to miss the big night. While the actress has spent the last few months at home with her 3-year-old son, Jack, and newborn daughter, Neve, she tells WHO she’s eager to return to work. “I have had

a really nice time being at home and being a mum, but the acting bug is kicking back in and I’m getting ready to return and settle back in,” she says.

Tennis superstar, TV host and all round legend Dylan Alcott took home the Graham Kennedy Logie for most popular new talent and made a huge impact when he took the stage. “Growing up, no-one on TV looked like me. That’s why I wanted to get into TV,” the 28-year-old Paralympian revealed in his acceptance speech. “I wanted to get a job on TV because I love sharing stories, but also I want to show that people [with] a disability can be talented, funny, humorous – just normal people enjoying their lives. I’ve been lucky to go on a lot of networks,” he said before his voice broke.

The Logies involved a few hiccups as Carrie Bickmore, who had just accepted the Most Popular Panel or Current Affairs Program award for The Project, was so excited, she was struggling to sit still. She even walked into the media room gripping tightly onto her red Paolo Sebastian gown, admitting: “It’s falling apart.” After adjusting

herself and avoiding a wardrobe malfunction, she explained why she loves being part of the news program. “[The Project works] because of a combination of things. I think at the end of the day people want to find out what’s happening in the world, they want to laugh, they want to cry, they want to be informed. I think we’re such good friends on the show and with every new person who joins the show and leaves the show, the dynamic changes and that’s probably a good thing for the show that’s been on air for 10 years because it’s constantly evolving. We all know we have one of the best jobs in TV and [are] very grateful for it.”

The biggest shock of the night went to ABC’s Tom Gleeson, who delivered a scathing monologue to kick off the show. Gleeson’s Gold Logie petition paid off when he took home the coveted award. “We all need to lighten the f--k up,” he said during his speech.
