Prince George

The young royal is all smiles as he celebrates his birthday with family

-

IN THE LEAD UP TO BLOWING OUT six candles on his cake on July 22, Prince George’s proud parents, Kate Middleton and Prince William, shared a collection of new photos featuring the birthday boy – and future king.

The portraits, in which George is sporting the official England national soccer team jersey, were taken by his mother, Kate, in the garden of their home at Kensington Palace – where the Duchess of Cambridge perfectly captured the essence of her eldest son’s personality.

Another snap showed George in a green polo shirt and striped shorts, as he gleefully smiled in a candid moment.

The images are the latest addition to the Cambridge family’s special album of memories. William and Kate, both 37, have routinely commemorated their children’s milestones for the public, previously also documenting the birthdays of Charlotte, 4, and Louis, 1.

Alongside the intimate photographs is a warm caption from the royal parents. “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share new photographs of Prince George to mark His Royal Highness’s sixth birthday,” Kensington Palace wrote on Instagram. “Thank you, everyone, for all your lovely messages!”

There’s no doubt George was spoiled on this special occasion – he has recently been enjoying carefree holidays with his siblings, including sister Princess Charlotte, who will join him at Thomas’s Battersea school in September – and spent his big day with his family on the private Caribbean island of Mustique.

Recently, the first grandson of Prince Charles has been making the most of his school break and the summer sun in England, undertaking fun activities with his mother, sister and brother Prince Louis, including watching dad William play polo on July 10, and taking the opportunity to get to know his youngest cousin, Archie. The little royals finished up their first public play date with their new baby cousin

by enjoying a low-key picnic from the back of the family’s Audi.

Despite his royal status, Prince George proves he’s a regular kid who is very much living a normal childhood. On the weekend of July 13 and 14, when Kate was occupied with official duties at Wimbledon, George and his sister stole the show at a summer festival in Berkshire, walking around traditional stalls and playing games at Englefield Summer Fete with grandparents Carole and Michael Middleton, Kate’s parents.

“They were having such fun going from stall to stall, playing on all the games,” a local villager tells WHO, adding: “George did pretty well at the ‘crockery smash’ stall. He looked very pleased with himself.” Too sweet! •
