SCOTT AND SOFIA READY TO WED
Reality couple prepares to take the next step
To celebrate the launch of Lip Kit queen Kylie Jenner’s skincare line, Scott Disick’s girlfriend, Sofia Richie, was front and centre among the squad of bikini-clad besties on a trip to Turks and Caicos. Richie, 20, has been dating Jenner’s sister Kourtney Kardashian’s ex for almost two years, and “Scott is really happy that Sofia and Kylie, 21, have become so close,” an insider told Us Weekly magazine. “Because it means that Sofia has been further accepted in the family.”
Richie’s acceptance into the celebrity clan – she has recently clocked time at parties with Kylie and Kendall Jenner in New York and Los Angeles, and was on hand to help celebrate with Khloé Kardashian at her 35th birthday bash on June 27 – also paves the way for another potential development. The couple “have talked seriously about getting engaged,” says the Us Weekly source. “It’s a real possibility.” Another adds, “As it is now, Sofia and Scott look at each other as life partners.”
In the past, the biggest hurdle to a happily-ever-after for the couple, who were first seen cuddling aboard a yacht in Cannes in May 2017, would have been Disick’s complicated relationship with Kourtney, mother of his three children, Mason, 9, Penelope, 7, and 4-year-old Reign.
“The hardest part was when we both started new relationships,” Kourtney, 40, told Disick, 36, during a recent co-parenting vlog for her website, Poosh. “That caused fights between you and I about introducing the kids … We had to literally go to therapy to talk even to get through to be able to communicate together.” Now, however, things have changed. Kardashian told
Paper magazine in May that her cordial relationship with her ex and his girlfriend is “probably the thing I’m most proud of ”.
On an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians that aired in April, Disick opened up about how Richie feels about the situation. “Sofia knew going into this that I was extremely close with Kourtney,” he said. “She was like, ‘Listen, I will never get between you and your family and your children. Just speak to me and make me comfortable.’ She’s a better person than
I am,” he added. “I thought for a very long time that I was going to live a very miserable life. I didn’t think that I was going to have happiness again.”
A source tells WHO that “as much as
people would love there to be, there isn’t any drama between Scott, Sofia and Kourtney. They spend a ton of time together, and Kourtney is comfortable with Sofia around the kids … It’s not only the family trips, but dinners and celebrations. They spend time together with Sofia and it isn’t weird.”
Still, it hasn’t all been smooth sailing. A year ago, in June 2018, Richie reportedly pulled the plug on her relationship after Disick was spotted looking flirty with a mystery woman at Kanye West’s listening party in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. But days later, Disick denied they had ever broken up and things seemed back on track. “We are very happy, very lovey-dovey,” Richie told The Sydney Morning Herald that September. “We are best friends and that is mainly the strongest connection we have. We have always had that best-friend connection and from there it has really worked out. I am so happy.”
Over a year later, “Everyone understands and sees that Sofia makes Scott happy, and that is important to them,” a source told E! News. “Scott is in an amazing place, and the family doesn’t mind her being around anymore. Everything has blown over, and she has become friends with all of them now. It’s one big happy family.”
Indeed, sums up the Us Weekly source, Kourtney is “not only unbothered by the idea of them getting engaged, they’d have her full support.”
