Fadi Fawaz; missing Aussie John Regan
Former lover Fadi Fawaz is accused of trashing the singer’s London home
THE SUN APPEARS TO HAVE GONE down on George Michael’s Australian ex-boyfriend, Fadi Fawaz, who was dramatically arrested for trashing the late singer’s London mansion. Police swooped on Michael’s lavish $9 million pad overlooking Regent’s Park on July 23 after neighbours reportedly spied a topless Fawaz, 46, standing on the roof.
The hairdresser, who grew up in Brisbane, had been ‘squatting’ at Michael’s home since the Wham! singer’s death in December 2016, refusing to leave – much to the chagrin of Michael’s family. He has vowed he will only leave the home “in a box”.
Police told The Sun the inside of the home had “extensive damage”. “Due to the damage inside the property, the London Fire Brigade attended,” a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said. Fawaz was arrested on suspicion of aggravated criminal damage.
“I’ve never seen anything like it,” a source told The Sun of the alleged damage to the home.
“Every fixture and fitting, every door and window, everything George left in there – it’s all completely destroyed. Even the toilets and sinks have been smashed.
“There’s major damage to the walls and even the ceilings. This can’t have happened in just one night.” The home was, for all intents and purposes, uninhabitable, according to the source.
Previously, Fawaz was photographed on the balcony of the house smoking a cigarette. A broken window, he said, was due to renovations he was undertaking on the house. But there is clearly more to the story.
Earlier this year, it was revealed Fawaz had been left out of Michael’s $172 million will. Michael’s sisters, Melanie and Yioda Panayiotou, will get an equal share of all the singer’s major assets. This includes his two London homes.
Michael, who was 53 when he passed away, and Fawaz were on-off lovers for several years before the singer died.
