ROYAL DAY OUT

- – Stacey Hicks, Editor

Prince George has stolen our hearts once again after putting on a very enthusiastic display while watching his first football match.

Attending with his parents, Prince William and Duchess Kate, and sister Princess Charlotte, 4, on October 5, the future king, now 6, cheered and jumped up and down in his seat with excitement as his team Aston Villa thrashed Norwich City 5-1.

Onlookers at the game said the family were so low-key it was hard to tell which of their extended group were friends or royal minders.

Clearly amused by their son’s reaction, the royal couple later shared a clip of George on their Instagram account @kensingtonroyal.

“A fantastic performance from Aston Villa,” they captioned the video, in which they can be seen giggling and smiling at their little boy.

The family’s display was in stark contrast to that of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, who declared legal action against a British tabloid just days earlier, with Harry releasing a lengthy statement blasting them for their “relentless” hounding of his wife. You can read the full story on page 18.

However, the two young royal couples, who have split their offices and charitable endeavours after initially working side by side, have briefly reunited to voice a video for mental health. The clip, launched by Public Health England as part of its Every Mind Matters program, features the four royals narrating and shows stars including Gillian Anderson and Glenn Close. “When they heard about it, all four of them were really keen to take part,” says a royal source. “It is a really positive project, and all four of them have been involved and they hope it will have a huge impact.”

Hopefully this is the start of a closer bond between the two royal couples!
