Congratulations on your new role with Bio-Oil.

Oh, thank you, I am thrilled and I feel so blessed to be an ambassador for them and their wonderful new product. It’s their first new product in 17 years and what I love about it is I’m 49 now and my skin does get drier and drier, especially on my legs and arms, so I love this gel formula. You posted an article on ‘disgracefully ageing’, which I loved. Can you describe this? The older I get, the happier I get. I just think, for me, I just feel so much more comfortable in my own skin and for me that’s a really great place to be. I now find I care less about what people think and that’s freeing. As I said, I’m 49 and I can say I’m the happiest I’ve ever been because I really embrace who I am, my flaws, my vulnerabilities, my quirks. I realise that I’m not perfect, I never will be and again that is a very freeing place to be. Can I ask you what you love about having two daughters? Everything! First of all I love having girls; even before I was a mum, I always wanted girls. I have two sisters and I’m very close to them both and I am very close to my mum. It’s a privilege to be their mum and at times it’s scary and daunting … but it’s the best, having girls. I feel very, very lucky. And your beauty routine?

I’ll try to get a facial once every six weeks or so. As I get older, I use serum more and that’s made a real difference to my skin. Get some good expert advice on what is right for your skin. For my body, Bio-Oil is fantastic for overall moisturising. I do get botox and I’m open about that because I get weary of reading about people who say, “Oh, I just use a cream” … I think that’s disingenuous because you look at people’s faces and go, “No, you’re lying! [Laughs] You get something injected in your face!” I find that

I do it because it makes me feel better; I’ve never felt pressured to do it because of working on television or anything like that. I do it because I feel better about myself and it’s a very personal decision and, again, if it’s something that people are considering, it’s so important to go to someone qualified.
