‘THE MASKED SINGER’ STAR’S SECRET PAIN MADE PUBLIC IN COURT DOCUMENTS
JUST A MONTH AGO SHE revealed herself as ‘the alien’ in hit series The Masked Singer, but Nikki Webster was hiding the heartbreak that she’d recently been a victim of domestic violence.
The darling of the Sydney Olympics, 32, had been assaulted by her estranged husband, Matthew McMah, outside her dance studio in Leichhardt, NSW. Details emerged on November 1 after court documents were obtained by the press.
They revealed that the couple, who have two children, became embroiled in a heated exchange on June 8 when McMah, 39, pulled up and Webster leaned into the car window.
A police report states that he “began slowly rolling the car forward a short distance and stopped”. He then instructed her to close the door before getting out of the driver’s seat and forcibly removing her hands from the vehicle. He then held her forearms “causing immediate pain and causing her to fall to the ground” before driving off. Webster then called the police and McMah, who works as a flight attendant, was arrested.
He claimed that he had “simply pulled the victim’s arm away from his car and that she fell over after he let her go”. He was convicted of common assault and fined $800.
After Webster’s return to the limelight on the hit Network Ten show, there were rumours her marriage was over. The couple were engaged in Fiji in 2010 and wed two years later.
Last month, Webster revealed she had written new material and was hoping for a musical comeback. “Music is a passion of mine and any chance to perform, I love to,” she told The Daily Telegraph.
