How does it feel to be the father of one of the nation’s sexiest people? Well, according to Sophie Monk’s dad, he doesn’t really take notice of the profile his daughter has built for herself as one of the nation’s hottest TV talents.

“I don’t think about it like that,” the 75-year-old tells WHO. “I just accept the fact that that’s her job, that’s what she does and she does it very well.”

While the Love Island Australia host and former Bachelorette may have had her ups and downs over the years when it comes to love, the 39-year-old is proud to say that she’s finally found the one in boyfriend Joshua Gross.

And yes, her dad approves! “I’ve met him quite a few times actually,” Mr Monk says. “He’s quite a nice chap.”

While her boyfriend of one year may have Dad’s tick of approval now, Sophie says Mr Monk – who is also father to daughters, Lucy and Angelique, and son, Ben – hasn’t always been so relaxed when it comes to her love life. “Dad was quite strict with us. We weren’t allowed to sleep in the same bed as our boyfriends unless we were married,” she recalls.

These days, Mr Monk is very close with all four of his children after retiring from his career in the hotel industry three years ago.

The laid-back grandfather now spends much of his time creating Instagram content with Sophie. “It’s a bit of fun isn’t it,” he says of the videos which have seen him do a number of hilarious stunts, including recreating Kourtney Kardashian’s famous nude shoot.

And just like the Kardashians, the father-daughter duo would love to have their own reality show one day. “I’d love to have a travel show or something like that with Dad,” Sophie says. “Someone has to ask us first.”
