Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell had plenty of reasons to celebrate on March 25, with the day bringing not only their first wedding anniversary but the surprise arrival of their daughter. The couple shared their happy news two days later, revealing all in an Instagram post. “Happy first wedding anniversary to my sweetheart husband and day of birth to our beautiful daughter,” the new mum, 22, gushed. “Grace Warrior Irwin Powell. Our graceful warrior is the most beautiful light.”

Irwin also took the opportunity to share the meaning behind her baby’s moniker, revealing the name Grace also belonged to her great-grandmother and “relatives in Chandler’s family dating back to the 1700s”. The Aussie star also opened up about the touching tribute to her late father Steve. “Her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a tribute to my dad and his legacy as the most incredible Wildlife Warrior,” she shared. “Her last name is Powell and she already has such a kind soul just like her dad.”

Having arrived home from Buderim Private Hospital on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, Powell, 24, also posted a sweet message to his new daughter. “Meeting you has been the best moment of my life,” he shared. “You have a big life ahead of you and no matter what, you will be surrounded by a whole lot of love … so excited to have you home.”

After her arrival, Grace was introduced to her Uncle (Irwin’s brother Robert, right) and Grandma (mum Terri) and is now happily ensconced in her beautifully decorated nursery at the couple’s home at Australia Zoo. “There are no words to describe the infinite amount of love in our hearts for our sweet baby girl,” Irwin added. “She chose the perfect day to be born and we feel tremendously blessed.”
