‘STRONG IS SEXY’

THIS MUM-OF-TWO WORKS HARD – AND SHE’S GOT THE RIG TO PROVE IT

-

Jennifer Lopez regularly breaks the internet with her incredible body snaps, and it needs to be said: the 51-year-old doesn’t just look amazing “for her age”. But while the talented multi-hyphenate’s rig is smoking, she’s always upfront about what it takes to keep herself in tip-top condition.

“Very rarely will I skip my workout,” she previously told Us Weekly. “Sometimes, I work too late the night before, and I’m like, ‘Ugh, I can’t do this.’ But I tell myself, ‘Just do it. It’s only an hour.’ It’s just talking yourself off the ledge of being a lazy bum.”

“Lazy” is not a word we could ever use to describe J.Lo, who turns to celeb trainers Tracey Anderson and David Kirsch to shape her strong body. “They have two totally different approaches,” she told website Hollywood Life. “I like switching it up.”

Lopez also takes tips from personal trainer Dodd Romero, who spills the secret to the star’s six-pack. Her core routine, he tells O, The Oprah Magazine, involves 50 hanging ab raises, 50 rope crunches, and 50 incline sit-ups with a 20kg plate.

However, it’s the stunner’s derrière that arguably receives the most press, and Kirsch says that shaping a perfectly bouncy peach is all down to one move: sumo squats. “It’s the perfect butt-shaping, hip reducing, lower half-sculpting manoeuvre,” he told website Byrdie. “It targets the outer thigh and [can help] lift the butt, which seem to be two problem areas for a lot of women.”

With all that strenuous training, it’s perhaps not surprising J.Lo’s diet involves organic whole foods, loads of vegies, lean protein and plenty of water. “Everything is fresh,” Anderson told People. “I have her eating very clean because she needs really good fuel.”

To support her training, J.Lo starts the day with a protein-packed smoothie, a salad or vegies with salmon for lunch, and then more protein for dinner, often paired with quinoa or brussels sprouts. And for any hunger pangs during the day? “I always like to have healthier snack options like fruits or vegetables with me,” the star told People.
