BODY AFTER BABY

THE SINGER IS FIT AND FABULOUS JUST A FEW MONTHS INTO MOTHERHOOD

-

After Katy Perry gave birth to her first child, daughter Daisy Dove, last August, she admitted to talk show host Jimmy Kimmel that she was surprised by what the early days of motherhood entailed. “Nobody talks about the first six weeks after you have the baby,” she admitted in February. “Oh my god, that’s wild! What a roller-coaster!”

But now, seven months on, the ‘Roar’ singer seems to have settled into her new role beautifully. As the weather warms up in the US, Perry has been hitting the beach with her baby daddy, Orlando Bloom, and their bundle of joy – and has been showing off some seriously sculpted arms and toned legs!

“Katy aims to exercise five days a week, doing short, high-intensity workouts – including lunges and hip thrusts,” her trainer Harley Pasternak told Closer magazine of the star’s pre-pregnancy workouts. “These tone as well as boost her metabolism, and can be done anywhere.”

It seems walking plays a big part in Perry’s new workout plan, too, with the singer spotted taking plenty of family hikes with her daughter and Bloom. “I always tell my clients to strive for at least 10,000 steps a day – or 14,000 if they’re trying to lose weight,” Pasternak tells Prevention.

When it comes to food, Perry’s known to be a big fan of the five-factor diet – an eating plan that is surprisingly easy to follow. Created by Pasternak, everything is based around “fives”. You eat five meals a day, each consisting of five key nutrients (one lean protein, one low-GI carb, one healthy fat, one source of fibre and a sugar-free fluid), and taking five minutes to prepare.

But for this superstar mum, health – not weight loss – is the goal. “I’ve had a lot of opportunity in my life and I know how fortunate I am,” she tells Prevention. “But when I don’t have my health, nothing else matters.”
