LANA DEL REY

WITH THE RELEASE OF HER EPIC SEVENTH ALBUM, THE SULTRY SONGSTRESS IS ON A HIGH

-

Fans of American chanteuse Lana Del Rey are in for a treat this year. Not only has she just released her seventh album Chemtrails over the Country Club, which is winning rave reviews across the globe, she’s also announced that she’ll release another album, Rock Candy Sweet, on June 1. Clearly the pandemic has provided the Los Angleles-based star, whose hits include ‘Video Games’, ‘Summertime Sadness’ and ‘Young and Beautiful’, ample time and inspiration when it comes to making new music.

Of her most recent release, Del Rey, 35, says much of Chemtrails over the Country Club “pertains to her relationships [with her] stunning girlfriends and beautiful siblings”. In fact, her closest girlfriends feature on the album’s cover art. Del Rey’s regular themes of heartbreak, nostalgia, glamour and Americana are also present, especially on tracks including ‘White Dress’, ‘Let Me Love You like a Woman’, and the title track, which was released as a single in January.

Del Rey adds that it’s one of her more personal releases, too. “[Listening to the album] you know, there’s a life lived in there,” she recently told Mojo magazine. She adds that the hit ‘White Dress’ recalls her days as a waitress when she was 19. “I had a lot of fun then dreaming about what was going to come next. Also, I really liked being of service and

I still do. I do lots of little things in my spare time that put me back sort of in that service space.”

With the pandemic still prohibiting large-scale touring, Del Rey won’t be hitting the road any time soon unfortunately, but fans – old and new alike

– can enjoy an abundance of Del Rey’s creativity this year.
