Legendary Australian fashion designer Carla Zampatti has been honoured with a state funeral after her death at age 78. Zampatti was hospitalised on Mar. 27 after a fall at the premiere of opera La Traviata on Sydney Harbour, and passed away a week later. A statement released by her family read, “Carla has long been celebrated for making Australian women feel confident and elegant through her exceptional design, tailoring and understanding of the modern woman.” She will be remembered not only as a trailblazer, pioneering women’s fashions throughout her five decade career, but as a loving mother-of-three and grandmother-of-nine.

Hip-hop artist DMX, real name Earl Simmons, has died. The Grammy-nominated performer was just 50 when he passed away after suffering “catastrophic cardiac arrest”, according to a statement from the New York hospital where he was being treated. His family also released a statement insisting the rapper’s music “inspired countless fans across the world, and his iconic legacy will live on forever”.

Sofía Vergara, 48, has faced her final hurdle in
her legal battle with ex Nick Loeb, 45. The Modern Family star has been at war with her former fiancé since 2015 over unused frozen embryos they created while still together in 2013, with Loeb wishing to use them without the actress’ permission. On Mar. 29, a Los Angeles judge rejected the businessman’s final bid, stating that any action he made “to cause the implantation of the embryos in a surrogate, or by other means of gestation, constitutes a violation of the Form Directive”.

Sylvia Jeffreys and Peter Stefanovic have announced the arrival of their second child. The Today Extra host, 34, shared the happy news on Instagram on Apr. 7, revealing the pair had named their new baby son Henry. “Henry. Our gorgeous, healthy little boy makes us a family of four,” she wrote.
“His proud parents couldn’t be happier. His big brother is learning to be gentle. Big love all around.”
• Macaulay Culkin will never be home alone again, after welcoming his first child with girlfriend Brenda Song. Making a quiet entrance into the world on Apr. 5, the couple’s new son was given the name Dakota Song Culkin – after the actor’s late sister Dakota, who died in 2008 at age 29. “We’re overjoyed,” Culkin, 40, and Song, 33, said in a joint statement. • Congratulations are in order for Mena Suvari, who has given birth to her first child. The American Pie actress, 42, welcomed a baby boy, Christopher Alexander, with her husband Michael Hope. “Both baby and mum are doing wonderfully,” a representative for the star confirmed to WHO’s sister publication People.
