Always use a pigmented conditioner. It’ll correct and neutralise any unwanted red or 2 brassy tones, leaving a pure, deep and natural looking chocolate tone.

If you love having an ash brown colour but you also have highlights, try mixing half blonde colour correcting cream with half brunette colour corrector to create a 3 nice ash-mocha. The result is amazing and you don’t need to use any toner. Always, always use coloured haircare products (shampoo/ conditioner/mask) tailored to your hair needs. The anti-fade complexes found in these will fix the artificial 4 pigment through your hair, thanks to their antioxidant action.

Dry shampoo is your best friend, but make it tinted. Over-washing strips and fades colour, so limit 5 the number of times you wash your hair and use dry shampoo where you can. After shampoo and conditioning, 6use rinse your hair with cold water. It does wonders for shine! Limit your use of hot styling tools but when you do use them, always

a heat protector (cream, spray, serum) on wet hair before drying. It will create a barrier between the heat and 7 your hair, protecting it from colour fade.

The best way to keep your colour safe from fading is to use leave-in products with UV protection. My favourite range is Soleil from Kérastase. Its anti-damage concentrate acts as a photo-damage protector, repairing the hair deeply, while the UV filters 8 deliver protection against sun exposure, chlorine and salt water. If you’re toning at home, choose your colour wisely. Blue toners work best on more coppery browns, while purple toner works best for more golden hues. The rule is: blue neutralises orange, purple neutralises yellow.
