MAFS STARS TALK FUTURE PLANS

THEY FOUND TRUE LOVE ON MARRIED AT FIRST SIGHT – SO WHAT’S NEXT?

-

For this reality TV couple, their connection was instant and obvious. Now, six months on, Kerry Knight and Johnny Balbuziente tell WHO they’re busy making plans for their real-life future together. To convey how serious the couple are, those plans include moving in together, marriage, babies – and maybe another top-rating reality TV show!

“There’s no concrete time line though,” occupational therapist Knight, 30, says. “I’m definitely open to tying the knot for real,” adds theatre producer Balbuziente, also 30. “We’re having a really great time together and we’re excited about our future.”

We saw you fall in love on Married at First Sight and now you’ve been together for six months. How did you celebrate? KNIGHT Every day’s a celebration for us, hey Johnny? We went to Sydney for our six-month anniversary. We hit up a couple of bars and restaurants and then joined a boat party, which was special. BALBUZIENTE What was even more special was that we came off social media for the first time and were just like, “Let’s just enjoy each other’s company away from all outside sources.”

Are you living together now? KNIGHT Not yet, but I have moved from the Sunshine Coast to Brisbane. While Johnny and I spend almost all our time together, I’m actually living with [MAFS bride] Georgia [Fairweather]. It’s all going super-well and now I’ve got access to a whole new pink wardrobe, too!

BALBUZIENTE We will move in together in the very near future though. I can’t wait. You’ve both been married before. Does that make you wary about doing it again? BALBUZIENTE I was very cynical about love after my marriage ended, but the [MAFS] experiment was good for me because it forced me to break down my walls, learn to trust and let love back in. It really opened me up to wanting to get married again. KNIGHT I was a bit “been there, done that” when it comes to marriage. But the experiment has made me realise that when it comes to having a family one day, I want it to be within a really tight, solid unit so that for me means getting married again one day. I’m open to it.

Have you talked about starting a family? KNIGHT Yes, but my mum always said, “If you want to make God laugh, tell her your plans.” So we haven’t made a definite plan about when we’ll have kids but we’ve talked about it.

BALBUZIENTE We’ll know when the time is right.

Would you consider doing another reality TV show together? BALBUZIENTE Kerry and I have just bought a house to flip. It’s really exciting to tap into her interior design skills on this fun project. We’re like a real-life version of The Block. I’d love for us to go on The Block!

KNIGHT I’d so go on The Block with him – that’s a show I could see us doing. I don’t think we’d go and eat bugs on I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!. We’ve just survived one reality TV jungle, I don’t think we’re ready to go straight back into another one!
