THE ACTRESS IS READY TO DON HER MANOLO BLAHNIKS AGAIN IN THE UPCOMING SEX AND THE CITY REBOOT

-

And just like that, Sarah Jessica Parker is set to return to the small screen. The 56-year-old will be reunited with her Sex and the City co-stars Cynthia Nixon, 55, and Kristin Davis, 56, in the highly anticipated upcoming 10-episode spin-off series – with the two returning alongside Parker to see what challenges lie ahead for Carrie and the gang in today’s world. Here, the actress opens up about the next chapter ...

First of all, can you tell us anything about your return as Carrie Bradshaw in And Just Like That?

I’m not trying to be coy, I’m really not, but I don’t know anything yet – nothing that I can share that is meaningful at least. One of the many things that I am excited about is being back with Cynthia and Kristin on the streets of New York. We’re heading in with large ideas and arcs, and it’s very possible that a great actress will join us and she will have a huge impact. We will want to be with her more, and audiences will want to see her more. I don’t have anything to share just yet except that I am very excited.

How will Carrie react to bloggers, influencers and the way they have changed the world of fashion in the new show?

I’m not sure. That’s a question that [SATC creator] Michael Patrick King and the writers are puzzling over right now as they write this next chapter. I’m sure she will object to a lot of it but I think there is a part of her that would love to see other people appreciate and enjoy fashion as much as she does. I’m very curious to see how the writers tackle that because we have to talk about it.

Carrie’s style remains iconic. What is it like to be such a huge part of that?

All I can say is that [costume designer and stylist] Patricia Field is a wonder, her entire team is a wonder. What they did became a huge part of the storytelling of Sex and the City. You can rehearse and rehearse, but it’s the fitting where everything comes together because what you wear plays such an integral part of figuring out who you are. I think Sex and the City is an example of that. Having Patricia and her team create that image was huge. A lot of those team members will be back with us on the new show, which is really exciting.

What made your time on Sex and the City so special?

I very much allowed myself to grow over that period to love TV. I grew up without a TV, I didn’t have one for most of my childhood so it was a special time for me. I loved the pace of it, I loved the limitations and I loved what it could do that cinema couldn’t – keep telling someone’s story. I also had the opportunity to work with an amazing woman, [producer] Alison Benson. We’ve been in partnership for 16 years now. She is extraordinary, smart, inspiring and tireless, and so good about the story. It’s been a wonderful experience.
