Ringing in her 37th birthday on June 27, Khloé Kardashian was bombarded with well wishes from family, friends and fans. But it was her ex-beau Tristan Thompson’s celebratory messages that stopped many in their tracks. “Thank you for being not just an amazing partner, mummy and best friend but also being the kindest, caring and most loving human being I’ve ever met,” the basketball player wrote on Instagram, alongside three happy snaps of himself with his former girlfriend. “Your love and spirit is contagious to all who’ve met you. Thank you for always being there for me and putting our family first. I love you so much.”
Thompson’s gushing post came just days after reports he had been spotted disappearing into a bedroom with three women at a Los Angeles house party on June 18 – with the 30-year-old emerging half an hour later looking “dishevelled”. “We all were talking about how badly we felt for Khloé and how he was going to embarrass her again,” an onlooker said of the incident.
Just hours after the news surfaced, Kardashian – who had only recently confirmed their reconciliation – and Thompson had split once again. “Khloé is frustrated and disappointed,” an insider recently told WHO’s sister publication People. “She really trusted Tristan and felt he was making a genuine effort. She hates that she was wrong about him again.”
The pair’s relationship has been a roller-coaster ride, to say the least. Just days before Kardashian gave birth to their daughter True in April 2018, news broke that Thompson had been unfaithful during her pregnancy. They spent the rest of the year rebuilding their relationship, but in February 2019 they split again after reports surfaced he had hooked up with Kylie Jenner’s best friend, Jordyn Woods.
In June 2020, sources told People magazine that Kardashian and Thompson were back on, having quarantined together in Los Angeles with True. And the reality star confirmed as such last month, telling host Andy Cohen their reconciliation was a “natural progression” during the recent Keeping Up With the Kardashians reunion show. “I know all the help that he’s got and the constant efforts that he makes every single day and how hard he fought to get back with me,” she said. “I don’t know why someone would go through all of that if they weren’t really serious.”
Kardashian even admitted the pair were in the process of seeking a surrogate in order to have a second child together. “I did have one [surrogate] and then it fell through,” she shared. “There’s so many tests they have to do and all these things. So I’m still on that journey.”
That process has likely now been put on hold, following Thompson’s alleged indiscretions. And it’s not looking good for the future. “The ups and downs with Tristan were always very frustrating for Khloé,” another source tells People. “She is trying her best to move on,” the insider added. “Khloé doesn’t ever want to be in this position again.”
