THE PAIR TURN HEADS AS THEY ENJOY A MEAL TOGETHER IN LOS ANGELES
The past few years have been a little quiet on the romantic front for Angelina Jolie. But the actress has certainly made up for it in the past month, firstly spotted heading into her ex Jonny Lee Miller’s apartment twice while in New York recently and now enjoying a dinner date with The Weeknd.
The actress, 46, and the singer, 31, were seen together at celebrity hotspot Giorgio Baldi in Los Angeles on June 30. According to onlookers, the duo enjoyed an intimate dinner at the Santa Monica restaurant where they chatted for several hours before being photographed making a quick getaway just moments apart.
It’s one of the more unusual pairings Hollywood has had of late, with many fans perplexed at the pair’s outing. “What an odd couple,” one wrote online. “I’m confused,” commented another.
But WHO’s sister publication People magazine has learned the pair have known each other for some time and share a connection to Ethiopia. The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, was raised by Ethiopian parents and recently donated $1 million to the country’s relief efforts. Meanwhile, Jolie adopted her daughter Zahara, 16, from Ethiopia and has since launched The Zahara Program in the country.
They also share a connection through their exes. The Weeknd’s ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez shared a rumoured flirtation with Brad Pitt at the Golden Globes back in 2016 – just months before his shock divorce announcement from former wife Jolie.
Intriguing links aside, fans are certainly excited about the possibility of a new romance. “Another Hollywood power couple in the making!” one gushed online. “I am LIVING for this pairing,” said another.
