THE STARS ARE MAKING UP FOR LOST TIME AFTER REKINDLING THEIR LOVE
They’ve barely been back together for two months after calling off their engagement 17 years ago. But after rekindling their romance, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck aren’t messing around when it comes to making up for all their lost time together. After letting the singer, 51, get away once already, Affleck is said to be already planning to get down on one knee “before the end of the year” as he “doesn’t want to lose her again”.
“The new relationship might technically only be a few weeks old, but in reality, they are picking up where they left off,” a source close to the couple told OK! magazine. “Jen and Ben have already wasted so much time. They are meant to be together and will make it official before the end of the year,” the insider adds of wedding plans.
While it might appear that the pair are moving rather quickly, the couple forged ahead with lightning speed during their first relationship, too. They got engaged after less than a year of dating in 2001, before calling off their September 2003 wedding due to “excessive media attention”
and split four months later. This time around though, their friends believe it will be different as the pair have “matured” and there are no nasty surprises in store.
“Jen and Ben both know everything about each other – the good, the bad and the ugly,” the insider explained.
The Justice League actor already has the perfect plan in place for when he pops the big question, too. “Ben wants to give long-lasting love another shot and is planning a romantic proposal on the singer’s 52nd birthday on July 24,” an insider told Closer magazine.
The pair showed how serious their relationship has become when they headed to Universal Studios in Hollywood on July 2 for a fun day out with some of their kids in tow. Lopez brought along her twins, Emme and Max, 13, from her marriage to Marc Anthony, while Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s son, Samuel, 9, also tagged along.
Despite the musician splitting with her ex, former baseballer Alex Rodriguez, 45, in May, with whom her kids were said to “be very close with”, Affleck and Lopez’s offspring seem completely on board with their rekindled romance. The whole gang was spotted laughing and flashing smiles at each other as they got drenched on the Jurassic World ride. The couple also walked around the park hand in hand.
While Affleck’s daughters Violet, 15, and Seraphina, 12, both sat out the trip to the amusement park, the actor has been spending lots of time getting to know his paramour’s kids. Max and Emme also joined the couple for dinner at a restaurant in Malibu last month. “[Max and Emme] are slowly getting to know Ben,” a source told WHO’s sister publication People magazine. “Everything seems to be running smoothly. It’s very obvious that Jennifer is serious about Ben. She hasn’t looked this happy for a long time,” the source added.
Lopez herself, couldn’t agree more. After spending the Fourth of July long weekend enjoying a romantic getaway with her beau in the Hamptons – where she also indulged in a dress shopping trip (see breakout) – the mum-of-two gushed over how happy she was.
“I’m super-happy,” Lopez told Apple Music on July 5. “I know people are always wondering, ‘How are you? What’s going on? Are you OK?’ This is it. I’ve never been better,” she explained, referencing her recent split with Rodriguez.
Judging by Lopez’s beaming smile, as she wrapped her arms around Affleck while they strolled around the park during their trip, when the actor does propose the answer is sure to be a resounding yes!
