BILL COSBY WALKS FREE
Disgraced comedian Bill Cosby walked out of jail as a free man on June 30, after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned his 2018 conviction for sexual assault. The shock reversal came after the former actor, 83, had served just under three years of his 10-year sentence for drugging and violating Andrea Constand at his home in Philadelphia in 2004.
The court threw out his conviction after ruling that the prosecutor, who brought the case against Cosby, was bound by his predecessor’s agreement not to charge Cosby after he was given immunity to testify in 2005. At the time, Constand had brought a civil case against Cosby.
“He is not released because he is innocent,” said attorney Lisa Bloom, who represents three of Cosby’s alleged victims, following his release. A total of 60 women have accused Cosby of drugging and raping them.
