CHANGE FOR GOOD

CELEBRATING AUSTRALIAN WOMEN IN SPORT, THE SPECIAL K PARTNERSHIP WITH THE AFL WOMEN’S LEAGUE IS A POSITIVE STORY WORTH SHARING.

-

Fifty years ago the prospect of Australian women having their own AFL competition was a dream. Fast forward to 2021 and the landscape is dramatically different. After five years, women playing elite level AFL is the new normal.

The competition’s launch in 2016 was another pivotal point in history, not only changing the nature of a cherished game but also creating opportunities for professional female athletes in Australia.

As initial sponsors and ongoing partners since launch, Special K has proudly supported the AFL Women’s League, and the powerful message it sends Australian women and generations coming after them – chase your dreams – nothing’s off limits.

For AFL Ambassador and Carlton forward Darcy Vescio, the AFL Women’s League has made a phenomenal difference in her life and represents so much for women. “It’s unreal. I think back to when I had to give up footy and my story is echoed across the league.”

“Everyone’s got the same sort of tale where they played footy growing up and then had to give it away.

“To be able to see girls play now, play all the way through and play in great leagues and be able to have access to coaching and even physios and that sort of thing is just amazing.”

“I think it’s so important to be able to share positive stories day after day where women are given the opportunity to actually achieve their dreams, rather than just being locked out because of gender.”

With a focus on giving everyone a positive, nutritious start to the day, Special K cereal helps you to rise up and enjoy a simple, joyful start to your day. Each single serve of Special K provides protein and fibre as well as essential vitamins and minerals including vitamin D, iron and folate.

Special K is also proudly supporting the Positivity Project, an initiative designed to give women even more reasons to smile with a collection of positive and inspiring stories across a range of Australias’ favourite magazines, including Who.
