Season 2 STARRING: Allison Tolman, Lana Parrilla

As one of the most underrated shows of 2019, it was cheers all round when Paramount Plus announced they had picked up the second season of Why Women Kill. While the dark comedy-drama followed the lives of three women living in three di erent decades during the rst season, the second focuses on ’40s suburbia with “frumpy” housewife Alma (Allison Tolman) in the hot seat.

Alma has her sights set on joining an exclusive garden club for well-heeled ladies, only its president, wealthy wife Rita (Lana Parrilla), runs the club with an iron st – all the while indulging in some sinister extracurricular activities of her own.

“I started coming up with this idea of a woman who feels powerless and unseen in the world and very much wants to sit at the cool kids’ table,” creator Marc Cherry told Entertainment Weekly of the inspiration behind the second season. “As luck would have it, she nds out that for all her feeling powerless in the world, she has a very powerful tool at her disposal.”

If you’re a fan of Desperate Housewives, one of Cherry’s other creations, you’ll fall head over heels for the hilariously twisted Why Women Kill. And if you missed the rst season, you can binge it on SBS On Demand before the new season starts. “There’s a little bit more murder throughout,” Cherry teases of the upcoming season.
