WHAT IS MS?
Multiple sclerosis is a condition of the central nervous system, which interferes with nerve impulses within the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. The symptoms are varied and unpredictable, but may include vision loss, pain, fatigue and impaired coordination. In extreme cases, it can lead to total disability. MS affects over 25,600 people in Australia and more than two million individuals have been diagnosed with the disease worldwide. MS affects three times as many women as men. There is currently no known cure for MS, however there are a number of treatment options available to help manage symptoms and slow disease progression. For more information, visit msaustralia.org.au
