Their romance may have reignited with a whirlwind of secret dates, dreamy vacations and steamy PDAs, but there’s no question that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are getting more serious by the day. “It’s very obvious that Jennifer is serious about Ben,” an insider told WHO’s sister publication People magazine last month of the A-list couple, who reunited in April just weeks after the singer called time on her engagement to Alex Rodriguez. “She hasn’t looked this happy for a long time.”
The actor, 49, gave the world the biggest hint yet the pair have matrimony in mind, after he was spotted engagement ring shopping at Tiffany & Co in the Century City shopping mall in California on August 23. While in the company of his mother
Chris Anne and his son Samuel, 9, Affleck perused the dazzling diamonds on display – with whispers he’s on the hunt for the perfect sparkler to propose with for a second time to Lopez, 52.
It’s been almost 19 years since the actor first got down on one knee in front of the singer. Reportedly worth a whopping $2.5 million, he proposed with a 6.1-carat pink diamond by jeweller to the stars Harry Winston back in November 2002. Although their first engagement didn’t end so well, breaking things off in early 2004, the pair are adamant that things are different this time around. “Time has passed, and they are each in a different place with children,” the People insider also shared.
For now, the couple are working on blending their broods. Just two days prior to Affleck’s ring shopping trip, he was spotted taking his kids – Violet, 15, Seraphina, 12, and Samuel – to Magic Castle in Los Angeles alongside Lopez and her twins, Emme and Max, 13. Their brood also took in a performance of Ham lton at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre on August 20.
“Since Jennifer and Ben are in it for the long run, it’s just a natural step that they all spend time together with the kids,” another source recently told People. “They are not trying to rush anything, but they want all the kids to get to know each other. They are making the last few days of [the US] summer as fun as they can.” With an engagement in sight, Lopez is also making a more permanent move to LA from her previous home base in Miami. She was recently spotted checking out properties with Affleck.
“They’re both adamant about avoiding a long-distance relationship and Jen’s already spoken to [ex-husband] Marc [Anthony], who has agreed to the plan as long as it doesn’t interfere with the custody situation,” an insider told UK’s Closer magazine recently. “Jen’s looking to move in the Pacific Palisades compound as she loves the area and being so close to the beach.”
Wedding bells, insiders say, shouldn’t come long after that. “They can’t wait to start their lives together,” adds the source.
