CHANNING AND ZOE’S ROMANCE
THE CO STARS HAVE STARTED MIXING BUSINESS WITH PLEASURE
Strolling down a New York street together on August 18, it would be easy to assume that Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz’s sweet display was a scene from their upcoming movie together. Only, the pair’s outing in the East Village was definitely real life – not reel life! – adding to whispers their working relationship has taken a romantic turn.
Earlier this year, Tatum, 41, and Kravitz, 32, attempted to dispel dating rumours after spending time together on the set of their new thriller Pussy Island. Tatum has been cast, by director and writer Kravitz,
as a suave tech mogul who brings a clever cocktail waitress to a notorious private island before things take a sinister turn. But now it seems that professional connection has turned personal, with the Big Little Lies actress wrapping her arms tightly around the Magic Mike star while on his bike during their day out in NYC.
It looks like Kravitz has had her eyes set on Tatum for a while. After first crossing paths while working on The Lego Batman Movie in 2017, the actress says she’d written Tatum’s part in her new film specifically for him. “Chan was my first choice, the one I thought of when I wrote this character,” Kravitz admitted to Deadline. “I just knew from Magic Mike and his live shows, [that] he’s a true feminist and I wanted to collaborate with someone who was clearly interested in exploring this subject matter.”
For his part, Tatum said he was shocked when he received the actress’ phone call. “I’d watched her in movies, knew she produced High Fidelity and had seen that, but I didn’t know she was creating on a level like this,” he added. “This subject matter made me say, ‘Wait, why are you thinking about me for this?’ No-one gives me a chance to play a role like this. Everyone expects me to do a certain thing. It was scary and liberating, just to have a free conversation, to mess up, and say the wrong things [in the role].”
Although they appear to be keeping mum about their budding relationship for now, the chemistry between the pair is evident – with Kravitz already giving Tatum girlfriend-like fashion advice back in June. “When someone can just come out and tell me I should not be wearing Crocs, and is so adamant about it, she completely convinced me and I never wear Crocs anymore,” Tatum told Deadline. “I was just trying to be a good friend, Chan,” she added.
