MEET THE MINI INFLUENCERS

WITH THE MOST WATCHED INSTAGRAM REEL OF ALL TIME, THESE PINT SIZED SOCIAL MEDIA STARS ARE GOING GLOBAL

- By Sara Tapia

Move over Stormi Webster, there’s some new kids on the block! While Kylie Jenner’s daughter may have many lusting over her designer wardrobe, Instagram’s newest pint-sized stars Mia and Tatiana Escalante have even taken over CEO and billionaire Jenner in racking up views with their sartorially pleasing snaps and reels. The duo boast an impressive 712,000 followers on their page, @miaxtati, and have secured the most-viewed reel on the social media site – with one of their adorable videos recently hitting 276 million views globally. Not bad for just nine months on Insta!

“We were very surprised,” the girls’ mum Nga tells WHO of their quick rise up the social media ranks. “We didn’t expect such positive feedback on how the girls were dressed and styled, as we were simply doing it for fun and to share the imagery with our family and friends to keep them up to date. We are still in shock at how quickly the girls page is growing day by day.”

The super-stylish sisters are part of a new wave of “kid influencers”, who have been blowing up Instagram, Facebook and YouTube with their adorable and fun content. Like Tatiana, 5, and Mia, 3, the majority of these accounts are run by their parents to ensure their safety online and to be able to monitor their followers, posts and comments.

However, the personalities, attitude and quirks of the kids are by no means edited. “They love trying on different outfits and

creating content with each other – it’s become a really fun bonding experience for us all,” explains Nga. “I guess it’s like the age old quest to get your parents to watch you when you’re little, the new age version [is] to film you.”

The Aussie duo share the stage with many other miniinfluencers that are cropping up all over the globe, with celebrity offspring also making waves online. Stars like tennis legend Serena Williams and actress Gabrielle Union have all started accounts for their tots (see breakout), allowing the next generation of social media stars to begin touting their influence.

With their fashion-forward content reaching millions, Mia and Tati have been inundated with requests from brands to collaborate. And while it’s clearly a great foundation for a career in social media, the girls have slightly different ideas for their futures. “Mia would like to be a dentist and Tatiana would like to be Elsa,” Nga says, when asked what the girls would like to be when they grow up.

For now though, the adorable duo are just loving “getting dressed up, getting their hair done and having a fun time together”. “We are just taking in everything day by day,” adds Nga. “The girls can make their own decision on what they would like to do in the future, as long as they want to do it and it’s fun, we will continue.”

REAL VS. REEL Despite racking up the likes on Instagram, dressing up and having fun is still the aim of the game for Mia and Tatiana. “Nothing changes for them as they continue to do what they love, having fun and playing dress ups,” explains Nga.
