MODERN DREAM
THE SUPERMODEL FLIPS HER RITZY 1950's ABODE
Queen of the catwalk Cindy Crawford and her businessman husband Rande Gerber are no strangers to buying and selling prime real estate. The Hollywood power couple just recently made a tidy $2.6 million profit on their remodelled midcentury Beverly Hills home, which WhatsApp co-founder Jan Koum picked up for $18.5 million!
Boasting five bedrooms and plenty of open-plan living space – four separate lounging areas are partially separated by a dividing wall containing a sleek fireplace and bar – the plush residence is designed for entertaining. And it no doubt will impress Koum’s A-list guests! Through glass sliding doors, the backyard more than delivers on
relaxing spaces with seating surrounding a built-in fire pit and a large swimming pool with an inset spa and adjoining day beds.
Located in the affluent Trousdale Estates area, the property had multiple famous owners, including OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder, before Gerber, 59, and Crawford acquired it in 2017 and left their mark. “It’s midcentury modern, so it’s been fun putting it through our own filter,” Crawford, 55, said of decorating the home in 2019. But the star admitted she and her husband of 23 years didn’t always see eye to eye during the renovations. He “would sacrifice functionality for the look”, while she prioritised comfortability and her “practical mum brain” would take the reins! •
