LILY’S FAIRYTALE NUPTIALS
LILY COLLINS AND CHARLIE McDOWELL TIE THE KNOT IN A MAGICAL CEREMONY IN COLORADO
Playing young, ambitious marketing executive Emily who believes in fairytales and happy endings has clearly rubbed off on Emily in Paris star Lily Collins. The 32-year-old actress secretly wed film director and writer Charlie McDowell, 38, at picturesque resort Dunton Hot Springs, Colorado, on September 4, with lush woods and cascading waterfalls serving an enchanting backdrop.
Collins, who wore a dainty long-sleeved, hooded lace gown by Ralph Lauren (one of the few designed by the brand), revealed she and McDowell had quietly tied the knot by sharing stunning images of the nuptials on Instagram. “I’ve never wanted to be someone’s someone more than I do yours, and now I get to be your wife,” the actress captioned a beautiful shot of the couple kissing in their wedding attire. In a separate photo, she described their love “as a fairytale [that is] now my forever reality”. Her husband shared the same photo on his Instagram account and same happy sentiment, writing, “This moment will forever play inside my head.”
Many of the couple’s celebrity friends were quick to congratulate and send wellwishes to the newlyweds. “Félicitation les amours [Congratulations lovers in French],” commented Collins’ Emily in Paris co-star and on-screen love interest Lucas Bravo. Reese Witherspoon gushed, “I’m so happy for you two!” While singer Lionel Richie simply posted a heart emoji.
The daughter of British musician Phil Collins previously admitted she knew McDowell, the son of actor parents Malcolm McDowell and Mary Steenburgen, was The One during their first date in early 2019. “I knew the second that I met him I wanted to be his wife one day,” she divulged on US talk show Live with Kelly and Ryan last October.
After a whirlwind romance, the couple got engaged during a fun road trip through New Mexico in September 2020 amid the pandemic’s chaos. While many relationships have fizzled out in quarantine, the pair’s “only strengthened”, according to Collins. “Quarantine has made and broken up a lot of people, but the time together just solidified what we already knew about each other, the star told Page Six. “We’re really getting back to the core of who we are without the layers of society.” Pursuing happiness and succeeding in all areas of their life seems to be the goal right now for the couple, who have signed on to multiple work projects together. Proving her range as an actress, Collins is set to star in her husband’s Hitchcock-esque thriller Windfall and true-crime flick Gilded Rage. But with the actress publicly expressing her desire to have kids in recent years, no doubt they’ll have more happy news to share soon! •
