FINALLY FREE
After battling the outcome for months, James “Jamie” Spears finally submitted a petition on September 7 to terminate the conservatorship that’s held his daughter hostage for the past 13 years.
“As Mr Spears has said, again and again, all he wants is what is best for his daughter,” the documents read. “If Ms Spears wants to terminate the conservatorship and believes that she can handle her own life, Mr Spears believes that she should get that chance.”
Although Britney’s attorney Mathew Rosengart admits that Jamie’s recent move is a “massive” legal victory for Britney “as well as vindication”, he suspects something more sinister is at play. “It appears that Mr Spears believes he can try to avoid accountability and justice,” Rosengart shared.
For the singer though, the end of the legal arrangement is all she’s hoped for. “I just want my life back,” she said in a June 23 court hearing. “It’s been 13 years and it’s enough.” With a court date set for September 29, the star’s freedom now lies in the hands of
Judge Brenda Penny.
