THE AUTHOR PROVIDES THE PERFECT ESCAPISM READ WITH HER DEBUT NOVEL With many looking to put world events at the back of their minds, Adelaide author Lyndall Clipstone gives us a gripping tale of magic and mystery in these grim times. Inspired by “The Secret Garden, David Bowie as the Goblin King in Labyrinth, and my love of Gothic romance,” her debut novel Lakesedge is a darkly lush fantasy. “It’s a beautiful, atmospheric world that is perfect to lose yourself in,” Clipstone tells WHO. “It’s full of danger but also has a lot of heart and hope.”

Set at the haunted Lakesedge estate, characters Violeta and younger brother Arien arrive expecting to nd a monster. But Rowan Sylvanan, the young boy who drowned his entire family at the estate, isn’t what he seems. “I think back to the stories I loved to read, and wished there were more of, when I was a teen,” Clipstone says of adding her new novel to the young adult genre.
