COURT IN SESSION

-

After her father Jamie requested an end to the controversial arrangement in a shock filing in early September, Britney has jumped at the chance to conclude things for good. The singer’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart, said in a September 22 court filing that she “fully consents” to “expeditiously” ending the conservatorship.

It emphasises, however, that it is more important to her that her father be removed, calling it “a necessary first – and substantial – step towards Ms Spears’ freedom and ending the Kafkaesque nightmare imposed upon her by her father, so that her dignity and basic liberties can be restored”. The document adds: “Mr Spears cannot be permitted to hold a position of control over his daughter for another day.”

The filing means that the case’s next scheduled hearing on September 29 will be pivotal, with Judge Brenda Penny now having to decide whether to remove Jamie immediately or to put the conservatorship on a path to termination. We’ll know more soon …
